"Youth against terror 2010"
Project called "Youth against Terror" for the first time was held in 2005, and since then it has become an annual charity action that is held in Lithuanian capital – Vilnius – and that lasts for few days. All the money from this action each year are later given to those, who have suffered from terroristic act in different countries. This year the action will embrace different activities and is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the great victory in in the Second World War.
The proramme is as follows:
17th of September at 16:00 in the conference hall of “Artis Centrum Hotels” the official opening of the international charity action “Youth Against Terror 2010” will be held, which will also start the cycle of different further activities.
18–19th of September the intellectual games “What? Where? When?” will be held. It is a fast game that includes answering questions from different spheres. This year the master of the game Aleksandr Druz will shake hands with the cleverest and worthy young winners. If you are smart and risky, go for it!
The traditional meeting of European youth organizations’ representatives will be held on the 23–26th of September. More ten 25 countries will send their young people to Vilnius in order to make networking of the organizations. This network will be used on both the local and international levels as the basics for the young people to take action in preventing violence, discrimination, and terror that became so casual in our world.
On the 23–25th of September the stage of “Youth Against Terror” will be taken by young musicians already known among youngsters and still going ahead for glory. The concert will go through the Baltic countries. The musicians are artists from Estonia (ElyJah & MostBand), Latvia (Da’Ba), and Lithuania (Spichki). In Vilnius the Russian rock-band “Iva Nova” will also be performing. Music styles: folk rock, soft rock, experimental, instrumental, ska-funk.
On the 24th of September in the frame of the action “Youth Against Terror” the conference “From nationalism to terrorism” will be held. Questions on the nationalism that makes background for the future terrorism will be discussed by Lithuanian social and political workers, representatives of mass media and youth organizations from different European countries.
24–30th of September – the traditional exposition of the action “Youth Against Terror” this year will be devoted to the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Second World War and is called “The Forgotten”. The exposition will represent the cycle of photographs of that period, veterans nowadays and soldiery artificial.
1st of October – the international charity action “Youth Against Terror 2010” will last with the film festival of short movies made by youngsters like you and me.The festival will take place on the 1st of October in the “Fairytale” cinema (Benediktinu 3/4). The action will be started from the movie on the results of “Youth Against Terror” and then the short films will be previewed. During this summer young cinematographers created plots and made movies on the topic “We Are for the Peace”. Best authors will be awarded for their cultural input in the war against terror.
On the 2–3d of October pupils of Lithuanian high schools accompanied by other young people will be making restoration work for the memorials and soldierly burials of the Second World War.
